UMMAS ministers are dedicated to helping our ministries thrive. To strengthen community and build leaders, we offer an annual Leadership Training.

We just concluded an invigorating weekend in Atlanta. We’ve left the details on this page so you’ll get an idea of what we offer.

Thanks to all the workshop leaders and the participants for giving everyone a wonderful experience of fellowship as well as intellectual and spiritual stimulation.

Expressing the Genius of Our Leadership:

Friday evening: Join us in an interactive evening designed to amplify our awareness of the amazing capacity we have for leadership in our spiritual communities.  This time of discovery will invite us to gain a clearer articulation of our unique essence as we attune our hearts and minds to our true gifts.  Using music and meditation we honor the ever-present love flowing through our mutual experience, recognizing beauty truly is in the “I” of the beholder.   Beth Boilott, LUT and Rev. A: Spiral Dynamics in Your Church:

Saturday morning & afternoon: A thoroughly engaging, inspiring model explaining conscious evolution. The model of Spiral Dynamics, which explains stage of development within human consciousness, can help you understand the social and spiritual dynamics of your spiritual center.  We’ll use interactive activities to process this intriguing model, then, in the afternoon session, apply it practically to the dynamics of values and priorities within your congregation. B: Board Skills:

Saturday morning & afternoon: Leadership is an art that can be crafted by enhancing collaboration between individuals in service to a greater mission.  As church leaders, we can engage creative strategies that support the evolution of our spiritual communities.  This workshop focuses on identifying specific team building skills for effectively working together as a team, understanding roles which bring forth cohesive relationships that promote partnership and harmony as we work together for the highest good. C: Finances in the Church:

Saturday morning: In this 2-hour overview of church finance, we will touch on The Role of Treasurer, The Role of the Finance Team, Best Financial Practices, Easy Steps for Budget Preparation, How to Hold the High Watch Regarding Financial Matters.  one session.  Rev. Robin Volker

D: Spiritual Social Action:

Saturday afternoon: John and Brenda Strickland share a wealth of experience in spiritual social action within Unity ministries and beyond. Of today’s volatile social climate, a wise spiritual leader has said, “When they go low, we go high.” John and Brenda seek to go beyond “we-and-they” thinking to an inclusive “we’re-all-in-this-together” frame of mind. It takes more than rhetoric and prayer: it takes action. All of us are required to put feet under our prayers. Your Unity ministry is a vital and vibrant presence in your community. Come explore new ways to bless, empower and share for the highest good of all concerned. John Strickland and Brenda Strickland


Our Presenters: 

Rev. Pat Veenema is founder and teacher at Unity New Vista Learning Center, an Alternative DSC_8359.JPGMinistry with Unity Worldwide Ministries. New Vista Learning Center provides quality online real-time, interactive classes for anyone wishing to take Unity Spiritual Education and Enrichment courses. She developed and received approval for the elective Spiral Spirituality, which teaches an integral approach to loving our neighbors and living from the Christ Consciousness. Rev Pat was a career public school teacher and holds a M.Div. and ordination from Unity Institute, class of 2012.Mindy Tucker

Rev. Mindy Tucker’s holy purpose in life is to coalesce ideas of spiritual truth and communicate them in a way that inspires people to take positive action. After 20 years of corporate service and child rearing experience, Rev. Mindy re-engaged in Truth studies and became as a Licensed Unity Teacher in 2008 and an ordained Unity minister in 2013. She currently serves Unity of Wilmington, NC.

Rev Dr. Nickie Golden delights in weaving together spiritual and psychological principles inviting us to live from the fullness of our divinity.  An ordained Nickie Golden 2017Unity minister, licensed psychologist, and certified Life Coach with the Hendricks Institute, she has taught a full range of students from first grade to graduate level utilizing teaching methods that promote living from inner guidance.   Nickie has served on church boards and understands the unique skills that are needed for effective leadership.

Rev. Robin Volker was a business manager before leaving the corporate world to work inRobin Volker Unity churches in 1998.   She began her church work as an administrator and church director.  A Licensed Unity Teacher in 2003, she pioneered a new Unity ministry in Delaware, Ohio, where she served for almost 9 years.   During that time, she completed Unity ordination through Unity Worldwide Ministries’ Field Licensing Program in 2012.   Robin has served on not-for-profit boards, including the Great Lakes Unity Region where she served as Treasurer.  Robin now serves as minister at Unity of Gainesville, Georgia.

Rev. John Strickland is Senior Minister of Unity Atlanta, on the Board of Atlanta’s Interfaith Community Initiatives and a Past Chair of Unity Worldwide Ministries.  Brenda Strickland is a popular author, Sunday Speaker, Workshop Presenter and Life Coach. Formerly, Brenda was an award-winning music educator. When Hawaii’s Council of Churches disbanded, John and a host of others worked to create “The Open Table”, a safe place for religious diversity.  John and Brenda have attended Parliaments of the World’s Religions and are active participants in World Pilgrimages under the auspices of Interfaith Community Initiatives. This summer Brenda has the great opportunity of traveling with Christians, Muslims and Jews to the San Francisco Bay area to deepen friendships and learn about others’ faith journeys, without trying to convert anyone. John is a former Board member of Atlanta’s Senior Connections which cares for Senior through Meals on Wheels, Assessments and home modifications.  He is currently part of a program titled One COP (One Congregation with One Precinct), which links churches and police precincts to build friendships and understanding.
