Whack-a-Mole

by Mike Davis

I’m sure you’ve all noticed that 2020 ushered in a time of both crisis and opportunity. The old cliche is that they are one in the same. I don’t know about that, but I do know that we’ve all been called to grow and stretch in ways that many of us didn’t expect a year ago.

Here at Unity Church of the Mountains, we’ve been learning how to do virtual church, and let me assure you, sometimes it feels like just a little bit more growth and stretching than we asked for! But we keep learning, even though life sometime seems like a step forward and a step back.

Case in point: this past Sunday, we tried out some new lights. They work beautifully, and this week’s video is a big improvement visually. A step forward.

That same day, we had a faulty cable on one of the microphones, and so we missed out on some great singing from Joanne Massey and some important words from Gail Kreher. A step back.

This week, I’m going to go through all our cables and be sure they all work.

A step forward.
Ok, that’s two to one! Is it perfect? No.
Is it progress? Yes.
And I believe in progress. I believe in us.

Hang in there, friends. The next part of the ride offers more opportunity and less crisis. We’re all learning. We’re all growing, and we will get through this, better than ever. I believe that to my soul.

Love always,
Mike Davis
